who am i?

i am a blank slate
the past has been erased
the shadows of the chalk
leaving cloudy smears behind

i wonder if i have the guts now
to write what i want or
if i'll continue to write
what other people expect of me

forgiveness

words spill from my lips like rain but none are right
tears fall from my eyes like diamonds but none are real

kiss the words from my mouth
wipe the tears from my skin

see me
hold me
know me
love me

i feel your fingertips on my back
i feel your heartbeat in my veins
i feel your lips on mine
i feel my hands in yours

when i open my eyes i see you
when you open your heart i hope you see me

inside out

to burn in jealousy
or to freeze in mourning

to love selfishly
or to lose selflessly

which pain will i choose?

quickening

the dancing flames
in your stained glass eyes
are mirrors of my soul

look at me
with unguarded abandon
show me who i really am

glowing embers ignite once again
evaporating at last the facade of me
revealing the hidden core beneath the surface

the fire in your eyes
becomes a fire in mine
as i surrrender to myself

Metamorphosis

The coolness of hope
washes over the burning of fear
soothing raw, naked pain
healing and transforming the soul.

This is the 4th poem of 12 I am writing for the 2008 Bead Journal Project.
