restoration

unimaginable emotions well up
from a deep spring inside her
threatening to drown her with their intensity

she must move deliberately
so that she doesn't suffocate
from the overwhelming flood

hidden places in her heart
dry and cracked from abandonment and neglect
come to life again as they drink this water of life

genesis

looking through the glass
trying to see clearly
knowing my view is skewed
impossible to break through

hands clasped together
heating places where cold persists
melt the distorted pain
step out of the ruined past

forgiveness

words spill from my lips like rain but none are right
tears fall from my eyes like diamonds but none are real

kiss the words from my mouth
wipe the tears from my skin

see me
hold me
know me
love me

i feel your fingertips on my back
i feel your heartbeat in my veins
i feel your lips on mine
i feel my hands in yours

when i open my eyes i see you
when you open your heart i hope you see me

inside out

to burn in jealousy
or to freeze in mourning

to love selfishly
or to lose selflessly

which pain will i choose?

quickening

the dancing flames
in your stained glass eyes
are mirrors of my soul

look at me
with unguarded abandon
show me who i really am

glowing embers ignite once again
evaporating at last the facade of me
revealing the hidden core beneath the surface

the fire in your eyes
becomes a fire in mine
as i surrrender to myself

labyrinth

lost in the conflict
of this messy existence

walls built high and strong
obstruct my view

I fall on my knees
and cry out for direction

show me the path
that will lead me home

Sanctuary

The tangible comfort of a love reborn
holds me close in its embrace
infusing me with its radiance and joy.

Metamorphosis

The coolness of hope
washes over the burning of fear
soothing raw, naked pain
healing and transforming the soul.

This is the 4th poem of 12 I am writing for the 2008 Bead Journal Project.

Bead Retreat!!

I'm heading out in the morning to a 4 day bead retreat in the mountains. I've been waiting for this a long time and now that tax season is over (I'm an accountant IRL) I have some time to relax. Next year WILL NOT be so crazy, I promise myself and my loved ones.

I want to finish my bead journal project for 2007 (supposed to be done at the end of May, but it's only 1/3 done right now - no worries though - it'll get done when it's supposed to) and start working on 2008's project. I will be using my poems as part of each page (12 - one per month) along with fabric and beads (of course!).

boundless

blue flames lick at skin
when fire moves inward
drawing energy from every pore
as it seeps through
to the essence
of its destination

this one is for my husband...
i want my love to always be boundless

Escape

light,
streaming from her body,
filling the air with its heat,
setting the very sun on fire,
as her spirit escapes from its cage.

In a mood for poetry I guess :)

My visualizations seem to be focused on opposites (light/darkness and heat/cold). I would love to be able to draw the things I see in my mind's eye, but even if I could, I see them in such an abstract way that it would be difficult to convey the meaning in them. I think I'll use my poems as a starting point for my 2008 Bead Journal Project pages.

Sublimation

When night becomes dawn
and the burning sun
vanishes the icy cold of dark
my spirit will break free.

I wrote this last night. DH commented that I used the future tense but I guess that just means I'm not done with this transformation I'm in the middle of. If it only gets better, I'm sort of glad I'm not done yet. So far the journey has been amazing!

Luna Update

Here's what Luna really looks like, now that I'm completely healed. I love the colors in the moon! I am so thrilled I did this!
