So Close!!

As you can see, I am almost done with the outside of this quarter's bead journal project. It may be tomorrow before I can finish it. Tonight's Halloween (my least favorite holiday, by the way) and the kids are going trick-or-treating. Am I a horrible mother making them wear the same costumes as last year since they still fit? They are 5 and 7 years old. I just hate the thought of spending money (that we don't have) on something that will only be worn once.

Another BJP Update

I'm over half done with this quarter. :) I'm at that point where I get in all my projects, where I see enough progress to get really excited and want to work on it until the wee hours of the morning for days on end to get it finished. I only hope I can maintain this momentum.
On a side note, maybe nobody else can tell, but I feel like my bead embroidery is getting better. I see things I'd like to fix (but I won't) from when I started it and things I really like from recent beading sessions. That's the point, I guess. :)

More progress :)

I worked on this again last night for a couple of hours and got another small section done. I think I might be able to finish the outside soon!

I bumped my table twice and ended up with this mess:

After the second time, I decided not to organize it again until I am ready to put the beads back in their containers!

Turtledove Creations Felted Bag

This gorgeous felted bag was handmade by the sister-in-law of a friend of mine. Isn't it great? If you are interested in purchasing a bag (she does custom designs and also sells patterns for making your own), contact me and I'll pass along her info.

Today's BJP Update

I'm very happy with the progress I'm making on this quarter. To put things in a little perspective for myself, I didn't officially start on the beading until after August 14, which was when I finally drew my outlines on the interfacing. So, I've really only been working a little more than 2 months on this quarter.
I'm looking forward to finishing the outside part and starting on the leaf. :)

BJP quarter 1 ~Air~ progress

The colors look a little strange in this photo, but you can get an better idea of what the whole quarter will look like. The leaf is actually a yellowish-green. The entire year will have 4 of these leaf quarters, all with a different but related theme. This quarter is entitled "Air". I don't think it's difficult to figure out what the other 3 will be called! :)

June BJP Done...sort of

Well, since I'm doing multiple months together and I have two of them half done, I guess I can say I'm sort of done with one month! Makes me feel better and not so far behind anyway! :)

BJP Update

This is what my June piece looks like now. I was having "beader's block" for a while (partly because I was sick) but finally got back in the groove. I beaded into the July block a little bit. :)

Jason as Picasso

This was an assignment for my husband's art class. It's a rendition of a Picasso.

Rose Garden Bracelet Revisited

I originally made one of these bracelets as a gift for my mother. This one is for sale and will hopefully sell at a show in December.

Diamond Amulet Purse Necklace

This amulet bag is from Enid Taylor's book Decorative Beaded Purses. I think it took about 7-8 hours and is only 4 1/2" from top to the bottom of the longest fringe. It is peyote stitched in seed and bugle beads with accents of bronze drop beads and Czech fire-polished glass crystals.
